Guided by our mission, we believe that empowering all women requires the elimination of racism. Racism and sexism exist on a spectrum, creating ever-increasing vulnerability, marginalization, and inequity. The farthest end of that spectrum gives rise to the most dangerous forms of racism and sexism. Specifically, domestic and sexual violence.YWCA intervention programs include a 24-hour helpline, emergency shelter (and emergency pet boarding) and longer-term housing for domestic abuse victims, safety planning, legal and court assistance, advocacy, counseling for victims, counseling for men choosing alternatives to violence, support groups, supervised parenting time, sexual assault medical forensic exams (commonly known as “rape exams”; all ages, all genders) and domestic violence medical-forensic exams (adult; all genders). YWCA prevention programs include community education; leadership programming for girls and gender expansive/nonbinary youth; and public policy advocacy.
